and maybe a couple of dollars spent here and there. I would like to say we are done but in many ways we feel we have barely scratched the surface. Vancouver seems a very long time ago but I think we have made the most of the time we have had in between. As you would expect, we have been asked about our favourite places so far so here is a few that top the list:
- The Tea-Houses hike at Lake Louise; 26km in the most stunning environment on a beautiful day…even better when lovely people shared their lunch at 2600m and the beer at the Fairmont afterwards was the icing on the cake.
- Bear Tooth Pass; the drive into the NE entrance to Yellowstone was only mentioned by a garage mechanic we talked to in Missoula. So glad we drove the extra hundred miles or so to get there.. 20ish km climbing along the Wyoming Montana border before dropping into the plains of the Lamar Valley dotted with bison.
- Wine tasting and visiting vineyards in Paso Robles and Sonoma… a little bit of civilization from our tent.
We don’t feel we can sign off on the North American leg of our journey without saying that we are indebted to so many wonderful and kind people that we have met along the way. Everyone has added to our travels through their generosity, kindness and friendliness; be it sharing a beer or 2, providing a bed, giving us advice and directions, or helping fix the car – THANK YOU.
See y’all —–on the other side.
